Nylon PA6 & PA66, grade by grade

A plain-English breakdown of every nylon grade we stock — what it is, when to choose it and where it's typically used. Tap the ? on any grade to ask our team a question or request something specific.

PA6

Nylon PA6

The tough, versatile all-rounder. Easier to process than PA66, with excellent impact strength and wear resistance and a good surface finish.

  • Melting point~220°C
  • StrengthsToughness, impact resistance, easy processing, surface finish
  • Watch out forAbsorbs moisture — properties shift between dry-as-moulded and conditioned
  • Choose it forGeneral engineering parts, clips, housings, gears and food-contact or powder applications
PA66

Nylon PA66

The higher-heat, stiffer option. A higher melting point and greater rigidity make it the first choice for demanding under-bonnet and mechanical parts.

  • Melting point~255–260°C
  • StrengthsHeat resistance, stiffness, strength at elevated temperature, wear
  • Watch out forMore hygroscopic than PA6 — thorough pre-drying is essential
  • Choose it forAutomotive under-bonnet, structural brackets, gears, bearings and industrial components
Nylon PA6

PA6 grades we stock

Ten grades from Aquafil, Domo and Poliblend — unfilled, glass-fibre, glass-bead, food-contact, recycled and powder.

Unfilled · General purpose

PA6 AQUAMID 6AV Natural Unfilled

The workhorse PA6 — a balanced, easy-processing grade for everyday engineering parts.

  • Choose it whenYou want a reliable standard PA6 with a good balance of stiffness, toughness and wear
  • Typical usesHousings, clips, fasteners, general mechanical components
  • ColourNatural
  • BrandAquafil

30% glass fibre

PA6 AQUAMID 30%GF Natural & Black

Glass-reinforced for much higher stiffness, strength and heat resistance than unfilled PA6.

  • Choose it whenThe part carries load or sits near heat and must hold its shape
  • Typical usesUnder-bonnet brackets, housings, gears, load-bearing parts
  • ColourNatural or black
  • BrandAquafil
Full specs
30% glass bead

PA6 30% GB Black (Bead)

Glass beads instead of fibres — even shrinkage and minimal warping for tight-tolerance parts.

  • Choose it whenFlatness and dimensional accuracy matter more than maximum stiffness
  • Typical usesClose-tolerance housings, connectors, warp-prone geometries
  • ColourBlack
  • BrandDomo

50% glass fibre · Food contact

PA6 50% GF Natural - Food Certified

Near-metal stiffness with food-contact certification for regulated applications.

  • Choose it whenYou need very high stiffness in a part that touches food
  • Typical usesFood-processing equipment, precision gears, structural parts
  • ColourNatural
  • BrandDomo
Full specs
50% glass fibre · Recycled

PA6 50% GF Recycled Black

High-stiffness performance on a recycled base — a lower-cost, lower-footprint option.

  • Choose it whenYou need high stiffness but not a virgin or food-contact specification
  • Typical usesNon-visible structural brackets and housings
  • ColourBlack
  • BrandDomo

Powder · RV 2.7

PA6 POLIMID PLV NAT (Powder) (Standard Viscosity 2.7)

Fine PA6 powder for coating and rotational moulding rather than injection moulding.

  • Choose it whenYou're powder coating metal or rotomoulding and want the tougher standard-viscosity option
  • Typical usesPowder-coated metal parts, rotomoulded and fluidised-bed coated parts
  • ColourNatural
  • BrandPoliblend
Full specs
Powder · RV 2.4 fast cycle

PA6 POLIMID PLV NAT V2.4 (Powder) (Fast Cycle Viscosity 2.4)

Lower-viscosity PA6 powder that flows and fuses faster for shorter cycle times.

  • Choose it whenThroughput matters more than the small toughness gain of the 2.7 grade
  • Typical usesHigh-volume powder coating and rotomoulding lines
  • ColourNatural
  • BrandPoliblend

Nylon PA66

PA66 grades we stock

Four grades from Poliblend and Domo — unfilled, glass-filled, impact-modified and industrial.

Full PA66 specifications
Unfilled

PA66 POLIMID ASG KW Natural Unfilled

Standard unfilled PA66 — stiffer and more heat-resistant than unfilled PA6.

  • Choose it whenUnfilled PA6 runs out of heat resistance or stiffness
  • Typical usesMechanical parts, housings, higher-temperature components
  • ColourNatural
  • BrandPoliblend
